Update on the new record:
The Mary Dream have been hard at work recording & producing their new record This Kind of Life! Diving deeper as producers, Blake & Elise are super excited about all 12 songs! This Kind of Life showcases a wider range for The Mary Dream with songs that rock, pop and chill, all the while expanding on their signature vibey sound. Stay tuned for a special myspace pre-release date!

 

May 2008:
On May 21st, The Mary Dream's song Stay was prominently featured on MTV's Real World, Hollywood! The song is played during the scene when Sarah & Ryan say goodbye at the airport. It's a very sweet scene and we just love it! Tune in if you can or watch the episode at mtv.com!

 

September 2007:
The Mary Dream's song Liar is featured in the indie film Butterflies In The Wind by Los Angeles filmaker Vic Alexander. The movie premieres at the Ava Gardner Film Festival on September 29th in Smithfield, North Carolina! Thanks Vic for giving us this great opportunity!

 

July/August 2007:
On July 11th, The Mary Dream's song Beautiful World was used on MTV's Real World, Vegas Reunited season finale! The song is used towards the end of the show when everybody is hugging each other and saying goodbye!

Also in July, Elise & Blake got to work with Nashville cello player David Henry (Vienna Teng, Butterfly Boucher, etc). David recorded beautiful cello tracks for the new song Home!

In August, songs from Beautiful World were added to the Vox FM playlist (New South Wales, Australia) for the Breakfast with Rob Lang Show! A big thanks to Rob!!!

Also in August, Elise & Blake teamed up with bass player Justin Cary (Sixpence None The Richer) to record bass tracks for 4 new songs from the new record This Kind of Life!

 

May/June 2007:
In May, the songs Beautiful World & Liar were added to the KWSS (Pheonix, AZ) playlist. KWSS is a great modern rock station! Thank you Shon White & Xavier Castillo for making this possible!

On June 2nd, the song Liar was 1 of 5 songs featured on the Fame Games Radio Show (Marbella, Spain). Fame Games features indie artists from around the world and broadcasts to over one million listeners in the South of Spain. A big thanks to DJ Laura Krier for this wonderful opportunity!

Also in May, Elise & Blake teamed up with drummer Steve Bowman (Counting Crows, LUCE, etc) to record super cool drum loops for the new song Sing!

 

March/April 2007:
On March 7th, The Mary Dream's song Both Sides was used on MTV's Real World, Denver in a scene with Brooke & PJ right before the first commercial break!

On March 20th, The Mary Dream's song Beautiful World was used on Oxygen's The Bad Girls Club in the scene where Kerry & Deann go shopping after Kerry's meeting with manager Doc McGee!

Also in March, The Mary Dream's song Liar was chosen by Los Angeles independent filmmaker Vic Alexander to be featured in his new film Butterflies in the Wind!

On April 1st, The Mary Dream was announced as the 2nd Place Winners of UBL.com's Ultimate Band Contest! The contest began in late 2005 with thousands of bands competing from around the world! Elise & Blake are very honored & excited, and have won recording equipment that will help them finish their new record This Kind of Life! Thanks to all our wonderful fans for voting for us all along!!!

 

January/February 2007:
On January 10th, The Mary Dream was announced as 1 of 10 finalists in UBL.com's Ultimate Band Contest! The 10 finalists were chosen out of 120 bands based on fan votes alone! Elise & Blake are deeply moved by the overwhelming support they have received from their fans!!!

On January 3rd, The Mary Dream signed the Beautiful World CD with the Oxygen Network for the new reality show The Bad Girls Club! Tune in every Tuesday night at 10:00 EST to listen for music by The Mary Dream!

In radio, three songs from the Beautiful World CD were added to the KCST playlist (Florence, Oregon)! On January 2nd, the entire Beautiful World CD was played on Reunion Radio (Mexico City/San Diego) and Elise got to do an on-air interview! Also in January, the Beautiful World CD became available at Awarestore.com!

 

October/November/December 2006:
In December, The Mary Dream recorded drum tracks for 8 more songs for their upcoming record This Kind of Life with Nashville session drummer Steve Brewster. Teaming up once again with producer Richie Biggs, who engineered the sessions.

On November 22nd, The Mary Dream's song More was prominently featured on MTV's Real World, Denver season premiere! The song was played about half way through the hour-long episode during the scene where Colie & Alex "hook up" for the first time! Elise & Blake are super excited! Also, on October 12th, The Mary Dream's song Where We Are was used on MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge season premiere! The song was used in a scene where the girls talk about each other after the mud pit swimming challenge!

On October 15th, The Mary Dream was the featured indie artist from the U.S. on Germany's largest commercial radio station bigFM! First there was a brief artist profile about The Mary Dream in both English & German, and then they played the song Beautiful World. A HUGE thanks to Eleanor Academia from the L.A. Music Pipeline for this incredible opportunity!

On October 30th, The Mary Dream was announced as 1 of 120 semi-finalists in UBL.com's Ultimate Band Contest! The semi-finalists were chosen from thousands of bands from around the world based on UBL radio chart activity. Elise & Blake are amazed by the overwhelming support they are receiving from their wonderful fans who have been voting every day!

 

August/September 2006:
In August, Elise was asked to be in a music photography book featuring female artists called Different Stars. Elise is blown away by this opportunity as the book will feature artists that Elise deeply admires. The book is the creation of an incredible music photographer Dina Douglass. Interviews with each artist will be conducted by Pollstar Magazine. So far the book includes photographs of Jonatha Brooke, Lisa Germano, Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses), Karen Peris (Innocence Mission), Kim Shattuck (The Muffs), Debora Iyall (Romeo Void), Laura Veirs, Sara Lov (Devics), Kathy Fisher (Fisher), Janet Klein, Cindy Lee Berryhill, and Anna-Lynne Williams (Trespassers William).

In August, The Mary Dream signed the entire Beautiful World CD with the MTV Network, so Elise & Blake are hoping for some song placements on MTV shows in the near future!

In radio, the Beautiful World CD was added to Dave Leonatti's Nightsounds playlist (WUIS Springfield IL), and the song Both Sides was added to Mark Watkins Music Show on Blast1386 (Berkshire, England). An on-air interview with Elise is set for early 2007. Also, The Mary Dream was added to the Cineversity Television roster of artists based in Groningen, Netherlands. CTV has a very unique artistic vision and features independent artists from around the world! Thanks Pi-Qui Baltink & Simon van Weelden for this wonderful opportunity!

Meanwhile, Elise & Blake have been going deeper and deeper into the writing process for their new record, which will be entitled This Kind of Life! Elise & Blake are VERY excited about the new songs!

 

June/July 2006:
The Mary Dream is featured in the July issue of Performing Songwriter magazine as one of the top 12 DIY pics! Much thanks to Mare Wakefield for the awesome review! (see PRESS page). Since March, Beautiful World has been added to approximately 200 college & indie radio stations throughout the U.S. and Canada (see RADIO page). Also in June, Blake & Elise recorded drums tracks for two more songs for their upcoming CD with favorite session drummer Steve Brewster. Todd Robbins engineered the session and dialed in some very cool drum sounds!

 

February/March 2006:
In March, The Mary Dream's Beautiful World CD was added to numerous college radio stations across the country, already reaching #11 on KKSM's (San Marcos CA) top 30 CMJ chart! Beautiful World was also a top 5 CMJ add for KRSC (Claremore OK), Lasell College (Newton MA), WCSR (Milwaukee, WI), and WNSU (Fort Lauderdale FL)!

For the week of February 20th, The Mary Dream's song Beautiful World was featured on Nashville's progressive radio station Lightning 100 (WRLT) on the featured local artist spotlight! Blake & Elise had so much fun driving around Nashville and hearing themselves on the radio!

On March 18th, The Mary Dream was a featured band at The Wilder Side of Nashville showcase, sponsored by ASCAP. The Mary Dream played a 5-song set, but especially enjoyed performing their new songs This Kind of Life & Deeper. Both songs will be on the new CD. Joining Blake & Elise on stage were Zach Gray on acoustic guitar, Gary Lunn on bass, and Garth Justice on drums.

 

January 2006:
January has been a great month for The Mary Dream! On January 3rd, The Mary Dream's song How You Love Me was prominently featured on ABC's All My Children during the final New Year's Eve episode! The scene far exceeded Blake & Elise's expectations! There was no dialog, and the main characters (Kendall & Zack) released silver balloons into the night sky with positive thoughts attached to them for the world! We will have a video clip of the scene posted very soon!

Favorable reviews of The Mary Dream's CD Beautiful World have been trickling in all month long, and Elise was even interviewed by the Nashville City Paper! Go to our PRESS page to see more.

On January 21st, The Mary Dream was a featured band at The Wilder Side of Nashville showcase, sponsored by ASCAP. It was another greatshow at 12th & Porter, and The Mary Dream debuted two new songs! Joining Blake & Elise on stage were Zach Gray on acoustic guitar, Branden Taulbee on bass, and Garth Justice on drums.

The Mary Dream's songs Beautiful World & All My Life were added to Long Island University's WCWP playlist. DJ Chris MacIntosh has been doing the show for 23 years, and has been featuring The Mary Dream's songs in a set with Sufjan Stevens! What an honor!

Also in January, The Mary Dream recorded drum tracks for 3 new songs for their upcoming CD. Once again, B&E worked with Nashville session drummer Steve Brewster.

 

December 2005:
The Mary Dream song How You Love Me from the Beautiful World CD will be featured on ABC's All My Children on January 3rd! Blake & Elise are very excited! B&E have also been recording pre-production demos of their new songs for their upcoming CD!

 

November 2005:
On November 11th, The Mary Dream played live at The Wilder Side of Nashville showcase sponsored by ASCAP at 12th & Porter! The show went great with the help of Garth Justice on drums, Branden Taulbee on bass, and Zach Gray on acoustic guitar. Pro music photographer Gregg Roth shot the gig, so stay tuned for pics! Also in November, the Beautiful World CD became available at iTunes, TowerRecords.com & BestBuy.com!

 

August 2005:
Blake & Elise officially released their Beautiful World CD! This is B&E's first full-length independent release on their very own label SuperUniverse Records! Beautiful World is available on The Mary Dream website & at CD Baby. Nashville producer Matt Wilder has invited The Mary Dream to perform live at his industry showcase series The Wilder Side of Nashville, sponsored by ASCAP. B&E are currently working on the line-up for the first showcase coming up in the fall!

 

July 2005:
Blake & Elise are getting ready to record a whole new batch of songs they've written since moving to Nashville almost a year ago. B&E just signed 8 more songs with two independent TV publishers and are hoping for some TV placements in the fall. With the Beautiful World CD almost ready for release, B&E are also getting ready to perform live in Nashville! Keep an eye out for dates!

 

April 2005:
April was an exciting month for The Mary Dream! Blake & Elise finished recording tracks for their first full-length CD Beautiful World. Then they had the extreme privilege of mixing it at Charlie Peacock's Art House studio in Nashville with engineer/producer Richie Biggs (Switchfoot, Out of the Gray, Nicole Nordman, Sam Ashworth). Richie did a fabulous job mixing the 11-song CD. Everyone had a great time and Blake & Elise got to meet Charlie and the wonderful staff at the Art House! Also in April, B&E signed songs with two independent TV publishers!

 

December 2004:
B&E liked the drum tracks so much from their November session that they went back for more and decided to turn the Beautiful World EP into a full length CD, recording drum tracks for 8 more songs with the same excellent team they worked with in November (Steve Brewster & Richie Biggs). B&E have also been busy taking their home studio to the next level by trying out various pre-amps, compressors and microphones.

 

November 2004:
In early November, Blake & Elise worked with one of Nashville's top session drummers Steve Brewster (Jewel, Faith Hill) on 3 new songs for their upcoming Beautiful World EP. The session was deeply satisfying musically and showed B&E why they moved to Nashville! The drum session was engineered by Richie Biggs who dialed in the perfect drum sound!

 

August 2004:
Blake & Elise moved to Nashville! They've already got an exciting recording project lined up for the fall, which will be recorded & produced by an artist they have long-admired.

 

July 2004:
Blake & Elise began recording their fourth demo/ep Beautiful World in their home studio. Also, B&E took a trip to Nashville. They had a great time and got to meet with some very interesting people.

 

June 2004:
Blake & Elise completed their third demo/ep Stay in their home studio. B&E are planning a trip to Nashville in mid-July and hopefully a move soon after to take advantage of the many music resources.

 

January 2004:
Blake & Elise completed their second 5-song demo/ep More in their home studio - recently upgrading from their long-time Roland VS880 to a modest ProTools system. Growing not only as songwriters and musicians, but also in their engineering & production capabilities as well.

 

October 2003:
Blake & Elise completed their first 5-song demo/ep As I Am at Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Florida. Tom Morris engineered the project and was not only a great pleasure to work with, but a great teacher as well. Guest musician Mark Prator added an edgey groove on drums.

 

November 2002:
Blake & Elise completed a 5-song pre-production demo The Mary Dream in their home studio to give to potential drummers & engineers. These 5 songs were later re-recorded in 2003 with live drums and became the demo/ep As I Am.
